What does ten dollars buy you these days? Not much, unless you're at the right auction!! After a full week of 'fun' at the school where I work, I often escape into the countryside on the weekends and check out the estate auctions. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't - even at the same auction! A few weeks back I thought I was going to get a good deal on a Delta 10" tilt-top table saw with lots of original extras, and a REALLY NICE (low mileage) 1 horse R.I. motor. Unfortunately, several other guys had the same idea, and I let it go when the bidding got up to $350.00 - oh well! However persistence paid off, and on the last day of May I nabbed this beauty: a 14" Delta Milwaukee Model 880 Wood & Metal band saw on a cast iron base, with the pressed steel belt guard, 1/2 horse motor, miter gauge, No.132 switch box and LSR-35 switch plate cover (red), and faded but original paint - all for only $10.00!! That's right - TEN DOLLARS - nobody else bid on it . . . "I don't need a band saw do you, Bill?" "Nah, I already got one." The wonders never cease . . . (smile, big smile, possibly even a dumb grin - LOL)
