This is a 5 hp three phase machine, shipped to Springville, Utah in 1978, according to Rich Fink. He also told me that the crated weight of this machine was recorded as 1,500 lbs. Apparently, sometime in the mid 1970's Oliver redesigned this machine from using 5/8" plate steel to 3/8" plate steel, although when I measured it, it seemed closer to 5/16". I am guessing it is still strong enough because it has been in use for over 35 years and there hasn't been a single problem.

The manual and the machine badge have different serial numbers. According to Rich Fink, the one hand written in the manual is correct. The one stamped on the machine itself, 204398, actually belongs to a 299 planer some place.
