Comments:
Purchased from a father and son. They told me the saw had belonged to the late grandfather. The grandfather had purchased the saw, new, to build the attractive house on one side of the driveway.

The saw, they said, was in the decrepit barn on the other side of the driveway. They wanted to knock down the barn to reduce property taxes and they were trying to clear stuff out. Neither had ever used the saw. They did not know anything about it, other than “it worked when it was stored.” We walked over to the barn, cinder block walls, huge holes in the roof, and a forlorn-looking cast iron base “portable” GP sitting in the dirt.

All the parts seemed to be there. Nothing obvious broken. Bearings either need a lot of adjustment or badly worn, as it slid with about equal (and too much) wiggle the entire length of the ways. The ways look reasonably good, but difficult for me to tell how much wear. I did not ask to plug it in.

Plan to restore, but it will be a while.
