A visit to the iron capital of South Jersey (a.k.a. Jos. Fazzio's) turned up an Oliver 182, a 15" disk sander. The machine was quite dirty and the paint was in really bad shape, but the machine was relatively complete and was also single phase. I had a yard helper plug in the machine to be sure it ran and then made the purchase. The table-tilt shaft had been sawn off at some point in the machine's past and the table trunnion's rack/sector gear had also been removed and was gone. I'll try to fabricate this someday in the future, but for now, the sander will run as-is in my basement shop.

I did use the normal protocol of ZEP Super Purple degreaser and a pressure washer to de-grime the machine, followed by a day-long dunk in the electrolysis tank for all of the components, except for the main pedistal and motor-- a body grinder & wire-wheel was used there.

The paint selected is Sherwin-Williams industrial enamel and we went with their Liberty Blue for the color. Krylon Gold Leafing paint was used for the *oliver* nameplate. I still need to rebuild the table-tilting shaft and handwheel and repaint the Oliver builder's plate. There were also tags on the machine for the War Production Board and for the Pullman Car Company.
