I found this saw advertised on craigslist.org for $75 about 45 miles from me.
We were in his basement bartering tools and inspecting the ol' saw later that day.
I drove away an hour later $86 lighter with this saw and 24 bf of nice black walnut.
You meet the nicest people on craigslist (besides here of course).

This saw's serial # is "26 748". I assume that would make it a model 748.
Walker Turner Serviced Machinery, LLC informed me it's AKA CB970.
They also dated it at probably 1948. Thanks guys.
If anyone has any dirty paper/info on this saw I'd be thrilled to have a copy.

The only obvious problem with the saw is I have to give the belt a little tug to get it going. I took the belt off and the motor needs the help, it won't start spinning on it's own. Once it's spinning it seems happy though. The previous owner said the capacitor's tired. Any input on that?

It *does* pass the nickel test with it spinning the blade.
I'm not too surprised with it bolted to that heavy little stand.
About that stand, it was the icing on the cake. I love a nice set of legs.

I'll update the pics and info as resto progresses.
Thanks

UPDATED PIC!!!
I'm finished with the main part of the saw, stand & fence
Still have the motor & miter gauge to go
