Comments:
Lathe was purchased for my father prior to 1940. I am unsure, but it does seem to be a "pre-Rockwell" lathe, and as the label describes, was manufactured by the Delta Specialties co, rather than Delta Manufacturing. There is no model number on the machine, but a label with the name Double Duty Lathe is found on the base of the lathe. The 1940 Delta Manufacturing Co catalog that my father saved shows this exact lathe as being a model 955, and the picture in the catalog matches the lathe exactly, except that the lathe pictured has "Nine-inch Lathe" written on the bed. Mine does not. I suspect that this was manufactured prior to it being listed as a Delta Manufacturing lathe, ie perhaps early 30s?
Unlike other Delta lathes, this lathe does NOT have a screw spindle, but instead has 1/2" diameter round shaft with a flat, where the #138 spur or #143 face plate or the #120 chuck can attach.
