Swapped a machine I wasn't using to another OWWMer for this Unisaw. I think we both came away happy. I have been using a Delta contractor's saw for years, mainly because it was the only thing I could get in my basement. Now that I have kicked the family bikes and gardening implements of destruction out of the garage and rebuilt it as a shop, I am putting together equipment I like and like to use. The Unisaw is just the right size for my space and for the furniture I like to make. It also lets me use my vintage tenoning and other Delta jigs.

Restoration was pretty straightforward, with one minor and one major kink: The minor kink was a bent arbor pulley. I couldn't figure out how that happened until I put the saw back together and saw that the blade was not centered - my guess is that the previous owner had tried to shift the arbor assembly over a bit by hammering the pulley. Our resident throbbing brain diagnosed the problem - the arbor assembly needed to be shifted a bit by loosening the set screw and gently nudging the assembly. The motor was another story - needed to have the wallowed shaft built up and new bearings - pricey, but it runs ever so nice now. Bearings, paint and complete cleanup, topped (or sided) off with a Cattail repro goose egg from Ron Curry, and it is a great saw to use - everything I hoped it would be.
