Found this in a sorry state for $15, I believe this one was the first version of the 31-350. It had four colors/layers of paint done from previous owners and as with almost all of these, the belt wheels were shot. Took it apart, re-painted and added new wheels, v-belt, hardened tool steel platen and a couple of mods. The belt spring was pretty week, only had a bout 8 lbs of tension, I added a cantilever arm with an additional spring, adjustable from 9lbs to 25 lbs. Also added knobs for the tracking and table adjustment. The aluminum belt guard is not original but works well. The table was machined flat (.003") and table edges were milled squared and straight to use with jigs if needed.

Original 1/2hp Rockwell motor (needs paint) works well but could use more power. This grinder could see a variable speed DC motor mod in its future. Another idea for a smaller footprint is remove the flat base and mount the motor underneath table.
