Comments:
I aquired this machine from the internet auction for Yorktowne Lumber, York, Pa. The former owner, Mr. Fred Smythe said that the jointer was probably new when Mr. Chester Zinn started Yorktowne Lumber in the 30s. In 1972 shortly after Mr. Smythe bought the place rain from hurricane Agnes flooded the creek nearby and this jointer and everything else was under 5 of water. Within two weeks he had everything dried out and running again. The jointer is complete with fence, and all the knobs. The cutterhead has four knives. There is an aftermarket guard. The babbit bearings are tight and the machine has a 3 HP electric motor of the same vintage. The dealers label and a decal were behind the electrical boxes. The label reads: William E. Duff York, Pa. Tokyo Japan Jacksonville, Fla. 50 Church St., New York City.
