I purchased this machine in the spring of 2005 and restored it over the same summer. Pretty basic restoration - I just had to clean her up and give her a new paint job. Everything was there on this machine and the only things that were replaced was the electrical wiring, the flexible air blower tube and a new chuck key.

I did build a custom mobile base for the machine to help roll it around the shop. It was built out of 1/4" thick by 2" angle iron and four casters rated at about 350 lbs each.

The biggest challenge in the whole restoration was getting the machine set on the new mobile base. For the restoration, I put it on a pallet that I could move with a pallet jack. When I tried to move it into my shop, it was too tall by about a half of an inch to fit under the garage door on the pallet so all of the work was done outside in the driveway and put under a tarp at night. When it came time to put the machine on the mobile base, even with a couple of people helping, we could not budge it off of the pallet due to all of the weight being straight up and down on a narrow bottom. I finally got a friend who has a front end loader to come by one afternoon and pick it up and set it on the mobile base. Once on the base, one person can easily move it around.

The other challenge that I ran into on this machine was that standard mortising chisel bits had drill shanks that are too short to use in this machine. With the help of the OWWM list, I was able to find some long enough (I think) and I have some new bits ordered that will hopefully fit.
