Acquired April 2017 from an 84 year old gentleman a few miles from my home. He had it for at least 10 years but never used it, never connected a motor. He purchased this jointer and a 32” band saw from a man who was moving and closing up shop due to the widening of Highway 421 north of Winston-Salem, NC. He was told that both machines were from the North Carolina Division of Highways and the band saw has a state property tag screwed to it.
Round 2-knife cutter head and babbit bearings. Cutter head rotates freely. Complete fence. Complete pork chop style guard, probably shop-made. No motor. The in-feed table has a few small chips near the cutter head. The Crescent name and logo are not prominent in the casting but can be seen enough to know it is a Crescent – along with the familiar shape of the machine. Missing one “clip” that holds the table to the incline block, it’s a cast iron piece (number 338), replaced with a steel shop-made version.
