Comments:
I bought this Unisaw at Lewisburg, Tennessee, in December of 2015. The person I bought it from had bought it 10+ years ago in New Jersey. When I bought the saw it ran ok, but it needed some attention. So I started to learn and dismantle. I found that it had the wrong motor to start with, (had flat plate w/ adaptor plate, no ears). Then found that both pulleys were incorrect, being a two belt pulley, not a three belt. The cabinet was cut-notched on top of oval opening for motor adapter plate to fit, (1x2 inches). The raise-lower shaft had been rubbing against end of motor pulley for quite a long time.
So I bought a newer 2 HP Delta motor off of a 63 Unisaw. It is made by Doerr, 87-310, and its a 3-phase, which I run with a VFD, a Westinghouse "TM50-203-C". I bought a complete Arbor assembly. Bought a motor pulley. SW did scan my original paint off of a inside part, and made me a gallon of it. I stripped every part of the Unisaw down to the bare metal. Cleaned everything. Had cut-notch welded shut. Painted. Reassembled. It runs great. Bought a Tenoning jig (old style Delta 1172). I bought old Delta-Milwaukee miter gauge for it. Made my own insert from solid wood. It came with a metal fence that previous owner made for it. Not too shabby of a set up. Used a dial indicator to do alignment. Everything is under .001" tolerance, on table, blade, fence and arbor runout.
