Comments:
Shop tool to braze or silver solder bandsaw blades through electrical resistance. Example in photos appears to be an early model, based on the "patent applied for" line on the builder's plate and the fact that the No. 462 "Vulkan Electric Brazer" (documented elsewhere on this OWWM website; see below) spells "Vulcan" differently and differs slightly in appearance. Offered on eBay in March 2003.

The work surface, where the clamps are, is brass. There is a large transformer in the base of the unit, tapped and controlled by a switch with Off/Low/Med/High positions. Input voltage is 120 VAC. Dimensions are 14" wide x 10" high x 8" deep. Weight estimated to be 15-20 lbs.

Originally sold with a supply of silver solder, including tins labelled "Simonds Saw and Steel Company, Chicago Fitchburg. Superior Silver Solder" and flat wire rolls of solder tagged "United Wire" and "Sil-Bond 45". These solder rolls were .003" x 3/4" in section.

See http://files.owwm.com/PDF/Oliver/4624207.pdf for original information on Oliver's slightly different 1942 "Vulkan" version of this brazer.
