Comments:
I picked up this lathe a Spectacular auction in Avoca N.Y. a few years ago. This past winter I was able to spend some time on it cleaned it up and gave it a new paint job. I don't see many of these. I don't think they made them for long. This model no. 4 is about as basic as you can get and they really don't work very well. There are no back gears. The only way to move the carriage is by turning a handle at the far right of the lathe body. And the jaws that hold the lead screw does a very poor job. This model does however have an additional gear in the treadle mechanism that allows you to peddle forward instead of backwards like most of the Barn lathes.
