Picked this up at a shop sale where the elderly craftsman and boat builder had run out of time and could no longer enjoy his tools. I didn't get to talk to him but I believe he was the original owner of this 18" planer. The family running the sale told everyone it was a three phase machine and I assumed it was until I had it loaded up and checked out the motor tag. 5hp single phase which was an available option in the early 60's. By S/N 187 I had assumed a 1961 machine but there is a remnant of an inspection tag from 8-8-63. It has the completer knife grinder attachment with jointing head. Too good a deal to pass up in the last hour of the sale at $600.
