This Delta Rockwell Homecraft Benchtop Drill Press, MDL: #11-120/HDP-125 with a Mastercraft #500 X-Y Compound Table. I believe it was made in 1957 and belongs to a friend of mine who asked me to clean it up for him after he recently acquired it. He did not want to repaint, so I did everything I could without damaging the existing paint. It was covered in rust, hard grease, grime, and locked solid but after checking the bronze bearings were good and after cleaning it up the runout was a very satisfactory .003" runout measured 1" below the original chuck with 3/8" blank rod. The Jacobs Chuck is a JT33 taper, The depth of travel is 3.50+". This drill press has a very heavy vintage 1/4 hp by Sunlite, Four speed pulley and uses as 4L360 belt size. It came with no power switch or light. I have some 1.75" brass ball bearings and decided to adapt two of them to the quill handle, held in place with a small set screw into handle groove and happy how well they work when drilling. Swapped out the bolts for wing knobs to ease changing belts, Not having a retirement light laying around I made a cobbled up lamp with a milled base mounted onto a power switch that I fabricated. The Delta power switch label was acquired online. I also included a digital depth scale. All mods are reversible. Highly recommend fastening drill press base to work bench, the base is small and 3 point tear drop shape makes it prone to being unstable.
The X-Y table is not for milling but to aid in making accurate pattern holes. It too arrived completely frozen and and covered in grime. Kept the orig. cardboard tube on the column, it had protect the column, zero rust behind it and have noticed these on a couple of others rockwells. Pretty impressed with it, drills very well, cuts cleanly into aluminum with long strings and no chatter from runout.
