Comments:
I bought this off of someone locally who was getting out of woodworking due to problems with his eyes/health. As soon as I read the name of the tool, I immediately knew I wanted it. I am guessing the person I purchased it from, also purchased it from someone else. It has a REALLY heavy-duty rolling bottom, which is NOT attached to the tool. It was put on an (and butchered) antique little table, with a piece of plywood around/above it to give you more "space" to work with (although, it IS in back of the machine, which I do not really understand. It looks like the original motor was replaced, with a new power cord, and a switch added to the front of the table it sits on for easy access. The setup needs some additionally tweaking, as the belt tension is somewhat loose in my opinion, and the the machine is not properly seated on the table it was mounted to. I plan to remount it on a Wolfcraft bench stand, and do any height modifications once I figure out what kind of space I need. It looks like it was also on a different stand at one point, which someone tried to hand-paint a light yellow/cream colour. I tried to get the majority of the paint off the machine, where they painted around the footings and such. Apparently, either the previous owner, or someone before I got it anyway, decided to change stands. Someone tried to add a shavings chute underneath the machine, but I will have to redo that later, as well, since I would rather have it able to be hooked up to a dust collector. I am not sure how well it was taken care of, as it was pretty dirty when I brought it home. Mind you, a lot of it was "road grime" from driving home with it in my trailer, in a snowstorm. I cleaned the entire machine with WD-40, and it seems to have cleaned up really well. I did not receive any documention, user manuals, etc. with the machine. It looks pretty easy to operate, but I would like to know what all the different knows and such do. I am pretty sure I DO know what they do, but I would like to be sure. I would also like to know how I am supposed to go about sharpening or replacing the blades.
