This table saw was purchased for my dad as a 75th birthday present. I inherited the saw some 24 years later at his passing at age 99. It was well cared for. I decided it needed better dust removal so I came up with the ideas you see below predicated on the factory dust vent being totally blocked by the mobile base. The key to this whole rework was the presence of drilled hole in the underside of the trunnion assembly. It is likely a tooling hole for machining the casting. Its location and size made it perfect for tapping a thread to affix the duct to capture the dust as it comes off the blade at the base of the trunnion. The hex head bolt you see in picture 1 is another bolt for holding on a mat board block to aid in directed airflow. I also reduced the cabinet volume by putting in a horizontal partition that sits on the cabinets interior seam weld. It is sealed and dust tight to the lower section. This increases the overall airflow and velocity in the upper section to insure good dust collection. I then attached a 4 inch flex duct to the affixed fitting and took that out through the newly installed ABS plastic motor housing from Bell Plastics in CA. (https://bellplasticsfabrication.com/product-category/powermatic-table-saw-motor-covers-accessories/). This all works even with blade tilted to 45 degrees. The down draft at the blade slot and throat plate is excellent. I can report that dust remaining anywhere inside the cabinet is remarkably minimal even when cutting MDF.
