This 11-inch drill press was manufactured in September 1948. It, and a #768 bandsaw, belonged to my grandfather, and came to me after my father passed on. It had been sitting on the workbench, with an old G.E. motor and a bad switch on the power cord. At that time I had two other Delta machines, and a 1948 catalog, so I learned what was available for these machines, and set to getting all available Delta parts, especially accessories made for the various machines I had, those I anticipated buying or had purchased while acquiring other parts. Thus, the drill press now has a lamp, the proper stand with kick-down casters, a later Rockwell motor plus two additions of my own: a 6-inch jointer dust chute to divert chips from the cabinet, should one be built, and the two cast-iron trays, not Delta manufacture but some other American-made. The drill press never required clean-up or paint; it had always been well-enough maintained. Still runs smoothly and tightly, fifty-five years later.
