As we know, Ames evolved to become a well respected manufacturer of precision measuring equipment...The reason I post about this dial indicator and base, is because it was owned/used by a famous bamboo fly rod maker (my Grandfather)...and upon inquiring at B. C. Ames Co. current management today, about paying it some care, they said it pre dated any indicator/gauge they had seen before!...So they're calling the real old timers and will call me back tomorrow!...I really want to replace the lens/crystal and the linkage for the totally unique lifting mechanism needs help etc...and they couldn't say where to send me, so far...
