Comments:
I found this screw press in southwestern WI. The seller had gotten it at an auction for a closing machine shop. Other than one other incomplete example found in an old auction listing, it is the only one I have seen. A single reference to it from Google Books (snippet) in the 1946 edition of "Bus Transportation" (McGraw-Hill) reads: "30-Ton Puller - A puller press designed for electrical work is announced by Lanagan and Hoke, Philadelphia, makers of precision automotive testing ..." I believe it was designed for working on motor armatures. The acme screw is approx. 1.5" in diameter x 12" long and feeds through a babbitt nut/bearing. A four position rack allows work from 4" to approx. 16" tall. On the badge it reads "Lanoke. Precision Testing. Lanagan & Hoke, Philadelphia PA." Height excluding screw is approx. 28"; depth is approx. 18". Rack width is approx. 10". More photos and information on my owwm thread: https://owwm.org/viewtopic.php?f=77&t=228094
