Comments:
I purchased the Shopsmith Crafter's Station while on a vacation in Florida in June 2014. It was listed on Craigslist along with a Shopsmith DC3300 dust collector, a Shopsmith 4" jointer, a Shopsmith Scroll Saw and a Shopsmith Bandsaw. I purchased it from the original owner, who purchased it new from Shopsmith Inc. in 1998. The tool was build on the foundation of the Shopsmith Power Station. It was a failed attempt to expand Shopsmith's reach into the woodworking market with a light-weight variable speed stand that could not only power Shopsmith's add-on tools, but the Crafter's Station could also be used as a 10" tablesaw. At 1/2HP is was under powered for most table saw functions, and as the table was tilted for cutting angles the insert had to be swapped to keep the blade centered in the slot.
