This machine is listed for sale online near Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and is described by the seller as "Antique metal lathe - likely 100+ years old. Cast base - brass collets". However, while not knowing too much about lathes, I think it looks too light to be used for metalworking so is more likely a patternmaker's lathe. The name cast into the legs of the lathe is "F. Blemkin", for which I could not find any references online as a toolmaker. I would be interested to know if there is any information out there on this manufacturer, and particularly if it was a Canadian manufacturer.

[ADMIN NOTE JAJ 2022-12-09: It looks to me like the base says "F. Blenkin". There was a Francis Blenkin of Toronto who was co-inventor on a 1920 Canada patent, #200,695, "Means for propelling vehicles", which related to the steering mechanism for an "invalid's chair" or a child's scooter or sleigh. My guess is that this lathe was shop-built for doing light metal work such as in brass. The headstock and tailstock may have come from a manufactured product. The legs may have been a school patternmaking and foundry project.]
