This machine was installed in a Tractor and agricultural repair workshop in a fairly remote rural area in the old Cape Province of South Africa in 1925, at the time it served an enormous area of what is known as the Overberg (over the mountain).The original family operated it until about 1980 when it was first leased out and then in 1990 sold. Interestingly during WW11 the track of army tracks were repaired here. the contents and building was purchased during 2022 by a wine farmer who is now constructing a working heritage museum on his farm near to Franschhoek in what is now the Western Cape. i was employed by the farmer to restore machines for his museum and this is one of them. It was still in such good working condition that all i really had to do was clean it up and replace the lead screw for the vice.
