Purchased this for my son. It is a somewhat light machine but works well. Relatively quiet since it has a regular motor. DC variable speed drive. Does surprisingly well for such a small machine. The knives are somewhat special since they are tapered in section. This taper keeps them in the cutterhead quite well. I expected the knives to be fussy but they were no worse than any other regular 12" planer.
