I stumbled on this machine at a cabinet shop here in Portland, Oregon in response to an ad for a different tool they were selling (Comet RAS). As I was leaving, I saw this old horse stuck in the corner of his shop gathering dust. When I asked about it, the shop owner told me he had purchased it from the shipyards at the Port of Portland but didnt have the time to restore it. It was in rough shape. The lower tire was impregnated with metal shavings and the gearing was set up to run slow, so this most likely was used as a metal cutting bandsaw by dock workers. It came with the original "Driver Line" 1/2 hp single phase motor. It had a few weld jobs, one on the upper cover and another on the table tilt mechanism. I am most of the way done restoring this old guy and will post final photo when done. So far I have stripped and painted it, replaced lower tire, dropped in a 1.5 hp electric motor (a 3450 rpm Jet motor, ughhh!!!! but its all I got!!!!!), and cleaned up via electrolysis all metal parts. I still have to crown both tires, replace wheel covers, and figure out how to gear it for wood cutting. I cant wait to start using this old machine in my wood shop!!
