Comments:
This sliding table saw was chiefly used in the picture frame industry as it could be set up with unusually long fences locked to the T-slots in sliding table. Unlike most sliders where a side table slides past a larger stationary table, on this Ulmia the whole table slides. Stops on the fences ensured consistent part lengths. A standard rip fence could also be ordered for these saws but was much less commonly found. One unusual thing about these saws (from the North American perspective) is the factory wooden base. Bases that are designed with this kind of detail and evocative shapes Stateside would have been cast iron, but these bases are built like a piece of furniture. Only the dust doors are sheet metal. I bought this saw in November of 2015.
My attempts to communicate with the successor organization who bought the assets of Ulmia Ott started out promising but then ceased abruptly. I was looking for a few small replacement parts as well as a technical manual that describes how to take the thing apart. The blade elevation is unique!
