This is my second Loan lathe. My prior lathe was a 10" with the motor mounted to the rear rather than below and so it required more space. I bought the 12" Logan for $900. It had last been used for making pool cues and so it had lots of sawdust mixed with the dirt, grease and oil. It was a mess. I did a full restoration. It has a three phase motor that I run with an electronic converter. I replaced the Reeves drive, which had a cantilever design with a used Logan Reeves drive that I found online. The replacement drive eliminated the vibration problem I was experiencing. The lathe was missing the logo plate. After a lengthy search I found one in rough shape. I cleaned it up and took it to an automotive pinstriper who re-painted the letters. The right hand cabinet now has pull out drawers for storing accessories. I added an RPM gauge and built a carriage stop with a dial indicator attached.
