I purchased this machine in December '23 from a longtime friend. He acquired it many years earlier and used it sporadically, so apparently it does work. Rumor has it that this machine was originally owned by the Baltimore Gas & Electric Company (BGE), but that has not been confirmed. I have not yet reached out to Straitoplane for the birth certificate, but I'll update when/if it yields any relevant information. This old mule has been ridden VERY hard: there are many repairs to broken castings, at least one of which has failed and will require repair.

It looks pretty ugly, but it's pretty bad underneath.

The second oldest Carey Machinery nameplate I've seen. I love how whoever drilled that hole indexed it on the "O" in Baltimore.

There is an astonishing amount of paint mopped all over this poor thing.
