I purchased this mill after restoring a Lewis Kits shaper and being impressed with that machine. It was pretty rough looking when I got it and the step pulley on the spindle did not come with a matching one for a motor. The previous owner dealt with this by adding a jack shaft to the outside of the mill with step pulley and gears to drive the spindle. I used this and it seems to work well.

After cleanup and paint. The chip/drip tray is an old cast iron griddle that I also cleaned up.

The spindle has a 1" arbor. I had some cutters with 1 1/4" bores so made some spacer bushings to make them fit.

To secure the cutter I made some flange arbor washers

Tested it with a fairly aggressive 4 mm cut into some scrap aluminum. There is some chatter but overall, I'm pleased. A fast final pass cleaned this up nicely.
