I purchased this DP400 from a couple in Rhode Island who said "It came with the house" It lived most of it's life in basement on an old work bench alone and unused. The base, table and column were covered on 75 years on oily dirt. Most likely what preserved it from rusting and pitting. The table had the trademark "smile" from careless drilling. I covered the table with a 3/8 aluminum plate. Counter sunk the mounting screws and milled in the hold down slots to match the original. The bottom groove on the spindle sheave is larger than the norm. This allows the drill to operate at a slower RPM. The Sheave is a tight fit in the guard and a previous owner cut a 1"x2" notch in the side of it I assume to make speed change easier. I repaired the casting, leading to a new paint job on all but with exception of the main spindle housing. The drill depth stop was bent and would only allow the spindle to move an inch or so. I milled a new rod to fit the side groove and turned down and threaded to bottom to fit the collet.
