I purchased it from an uncle who made gauges in Sonoma under the brand name West Tech he didn't know much about it it looks intact minus I presume a needle or indicator on the gauge. I'm guessing it could be a hardness tester for metal? It weighs at least 80 to 100 lb. To me it's beautiful looking I don't know what I'd use it for I don't know who would use it and who would want it
