Comments:
I acquired this just last week locally and at a hard-to-resist price, and it came with a collection of OEM Boice Crane cutters and sets of cutters that more than made up for all the missing handles and other bits. The reason for the side-by-side photos below is the still unexplained physical similarities between this shaper and the brief reign of the (1947) Production Manufacturing Co. shaper out of Portland Oregon www.vintagemachinery.org/mfgindex/detail.aspx?id=5031 As far as we know there are no administrative connections between the two companies but the Oregon machine copied most of the Boice Crane features including the reversible spindle, fence architecture, the cast base, and pretty much everything else.
