I purchased this band saw from a gentleman in Falls City, Oregon on 10/10/26. This gentleman's father, if I'm not mistaken, purchased this saw in 1966 or 1967 from Chown Hardware Company, a historic, landmark industrial supplier based in Portland, Oregon, established in 1879. The art deco base of this machine has this companies badge riveted to the removable panel on the front of the base. It appears as though his father may have added a makeshift "retirement light" utilizing a period-appropriate vintage brake fluid can as a lamp shade. It seems to have served him very well. This machine also has the original Rockwell 1/2HP 115/230V single phase, fan cooled motor. Everything I have seen of the machine appears as though it was very well maintained and cared for, more so than many others that I've seen.
