Comments:
From Smith Lumber, Fall River, Mass. The 20' timbers are an anomaly, as most post lathes are found with 8' to 12' timbers. By the addition of the wooden shop made middle legs it seems apparent that there was a determination to use its full length capacity which is 17' between centers.- Haven't tried a turning of this length yet!- The C.B. Rogers head and tail stock are sitting at center of bed being worked on . The head and tail stock sitting on wooden riser blocks are in temporary use to keep things going. They are not badged. The machines we removed from Smith Lumber had to be lowered from a second story loft door. Before we finally had to resort to the use of a chain hoist, the dismantled 20' timbers made an ideal ramp for sliding the smaller machines and pieces down to the loading dock.
