After a year of working on and off on this beast, it is finally finished. Bought off of eBay, this machine started life at the Eastman Kodak plant in Rochester, NY. The drill press has a 42" column, a 6" stroke, a #2 MT spindle, 16 speeds, and a .5HP, 3PH, 1750 RPM motor. From the serial number (1401567), it was built in 1966. There is casting tag (16-65) in main table casting that collaborates this date. In order to bring the drill press home in my wife's Chevy Blazer, we (me and my oldest son) needed to break it down into manageable pieces so it would fit in the back. Looked to be in fairly good shape and seemed have all its pieces. The worst thing was that Eastman Kodak had repainted it white, which now was dirty with some rust and grease, and was starting to peal off. Having disassembled the drill press for moving was a good thing. First, I was going to have to do it anyways to get it striped (by electrolysis) and repainted. Second, The only way it was going to make it down to the basement shop was by going down in pieces. In addition, since it was disassembled, I replaced the bearings in the RAM carriage, the jack shaft, and the spindle, Replaced and moved the motor starter from hanging off the RAM to behind the lower base casting.
