Comments:
Bought this cast iron top contractor saw new from Sears around 1981. Never liked the fence much and it was always hard to align. I saw several 1960s vintage Craftsman saws on the OWWM website that had a solid base; a kind of modified cabinet saw. That got me thinking, so I made an enclosed base with a large drawer for saw blade storage. The front of the drawer has a retro shape imitating saws of an earlier time period. It also has a 2-1/2 dust collection port on the back which can be enlarged in the future. It has two steel extension tables; only one shown here.
Stripped the saw down, cleaned it up, and matched the original color paint at Home Depot. Repainted the saw and the new base with a HVLP sprayer.
