OK so I am reading the paper on July 3rd, being that tomorrow is July 4th and I have the day off. I find an ad for "Powermatic Industrial Jigsaw", for those of you that were
around for my four footed Shaper find you'll remeber that the shaper was call an "industrial router" in that ad.

People in my area must really like these two words, industrial and router. They must be a catch all, but I digress (read on). I call up and its ony 10 minutes away from my house. I go to check it out check out. Before I leave I quickly scan the OWWM files and find no scroll or jigsaw listed under powermatic. I figure he's got it mixed up must be a bandsaw, and then he says the THREE KEY WORDS "Its old, heavy, and green." The seller goes on to explain that hes moving and its got to go this weekend so off I go to visit said unit, perhaps there is other stuff that he doesnt want to move.

Indeed its a powermatic model 95 24" scroll saw. It works well and 98% of it is there. throat plate is missing. Then the guy says "hey if you buy the saw then Ill throw in this router" and kicks a craftsman lathe on the floor covered with tarps and scrap wood. The lathe is 95% there as well just not assembled. Both of these machines are mine for $50.

While I may not keep either unit (space constraints), I couldn't pass up the deal (thanks to you that pointed out just what a deal it was!). This unit was purchased new at a senior center, liability issues had the senior center woodshop close permanently. After the close there was an internal auction for center employees. I bought the unit from the winner since he no longer needed it.

There is an interesting motor switch on the unit with a safty lock out that engages when the pulley cover is removed. I am quite certain that this is not stock. Does anyone know if the light is original?

I called Powermatic and they told me by serial number that my unit was made in 1977, so this is the first OWWM that I own that was made after I was born.
