This is a lathe I picked up from a very nice man in Dayton, Ohio. He was a retired employee of the Dayton Public School System and he acquired this lathe from them. One day I was looking through traderonline.com at work and saw a very vaguely described lathe. I took a chance and made a call and his description on the phone seemed to support the fact that it might be a #1460.

I live in NW Ohio and Dayton is in the SW part of the state about 2 1/2 hours apart. I made up my mind I was going that night and so i did. When I got there, I was not disappointed. It was a very well equipped 1460 lathe. It lacked the original tailstock but that cabinet on the lathe was just jam packed with goodies. The gentleman was asking $90 for the lathe and I did not insult him with a lower offer. I was so excited, I loaded the thing in the back of my truck myself. He then offered a #7 Stanley Jointer Plane to me for $10 and it went home with me too.

I eventually traded the newer style Delta tailstock for an original one shown below. I would like to find a three jaw chuck, a sliding compound assembly, and a 24" tool rest for it someday.

Comments: With the exception of the tailstock, It looks just as it did the day I brought her home.
