Newman 600 24" planer recently acquired in Massachusetts in good condition overall. I test ran the machine with about 50' of hard pine and she worked great. Nice fast start up and very quiet with absolutely no significant vibrations. These machines offer a lot in a relatively small footprint compared to many of the bigger heavier Whitney and Buss planers. This is not a light weight machine however and weighs real close to 4000# or more.

This machine is fitted with a solid infeed roller that was a concern originally but I have since come the conclusion that it will most likely not be a problem for my usage after getting some great advice from Barry Stup and Steve Hebert. The cutterhead is a standard three knife assembly with ball bearings and there is an excellent array of grease fittings on every part of the gear train and cutterhead and rollers. Overall Newman seems to have made this machine very easy to maintain and service and you have to love the art deco look of those lovely swing out doors over the gearworks. Variable speed feed rate on this machine was advertised as 18-55 FPM.

About the colors. This is your standard Miami camouflage which will either get early issue Big Daddy Roth flames or changed to gray.
