Oliver #20-D Pattern Maker's Lathe, serial # 43502, 1936. 1-3-08.

Hey,
This is our new big boy (4000lb.) lathe. Came from a mid 30s pattern shop and I believe I will be the 2nd owner, but need to confirm this fact. Was a killer old shop complete with wood block floors and tons of old goodies. We were actually going there to get a bigger lathe but due to unexpected complications we wound up with this one instead. I think that was a blessing.
It has a GE, 5 HP, 2 Speed, 580/1160 RPM motor. Gives 8 spindle speeds of 160 RPM to 2520 RPMs. Headstock is ball bearings in oil baths. Also came extremely well tooled and we got a lot of other extra cool shop items as well.
We will restore this baby to former glory and my boys are chomping at the bit and have already restored the brass chicken badge. Only apology is in the electric starter which will be upgraded. The remainder of the work needed should be all cosmetic, as all the mecanicals seem to be in good shape.
