Powermatic model 95 24" scroll saw with variable speed I picked up at a school auction. It's 1988 vintage and it was missing a few parts, though it seems it lost it's parts early on as it had very little wear. I think it broke early and they just let it sit in the corner. It was in such good shape I really only needed to clean it up and find the missing parts. The original bearings have virtually no wear so I left them alone. With the assistance of a few folks around the country I located the missing parts and a original single phase replacement for the old 3ph motor and it was running in no time.

Powermatic has discontinued this saw, and to be honest, I spent more on parts for this machine than any other I've rebuilt. I was feeling pretty bad about that until it was pointed out to me that the 1997 catalog shows the VS 95 listing for $2047.00 and the magnetic starter switch listed for $335.00 alone. I've got less than 10% of that in the entire saw, purchase price AND parts included. I don't feel so bad now!

This saw replaced an old piece of crap that vibrated so bad you couldn't see the line, much less cut it. This saw is really a joy to use, it's so smooth with no vibration it's actually fun! I gave the old piece of crap to my brother-in-law... is that wrong? :)))
