Comments:
I puchased the machine in 1980 from a person whom I believe was the founder of a boat building collective in Sausalito, CA that still occupies the warehouse where the saw was. I was told at the time that it was used as a trim out saw at a yard on that location that built liberty ships during WW2. There was also a 48" tilting frame bandsaw that was built into the warehouse floor at that location. I believe that saw is still used by the boatyard today. I moved the saw to Portland, OR in 1981 and have since rebuilt the saw replacing its shaft bearings and blade guides. The original shafting and babbit bearings have been replaced with new shafting and new ball bearings were fitted into the original babbit bearing shells. The saw works wonderfully.
