I bought this drill press late 2008 off of Craigslist. My best buddy (SWA Captain) and I went to look at it not too far from my house. When we first saw it we were both kind of shocked at this find. I paid the guy his $35 asking price, we loaded it up and beat feet out of there before he changed his mind.

This dp has Craftsman cast into the side of the head, but I can't find a model number anywhere! I have pored over old Craftsman catalogs and in my search I have discovered that my dp was actually manufactured by Walker Turner. Nothing in the old Walker Turner catalogs matches mine exactly, but there are several features that are common. As far as I can tell, mine was manufactured by Walker Turner and rebadged Craftsman in 1935.

Notice the reverse pulley system? Interesting design. Also the base has an interesting nipple off of the back end. Very distinctive.

The drill press has original paint with some added light pruple and yellow splashed on the base from a previous owner. I think that I can removed the different colors and go right down to the original paint. I then plan to replace the bearings and belt and clean up the machined surfaces a bit. This thing runs great and quiet, but does have a little bit of run out on the chuck. I'm hoping that it's just the chuck.

I am torn between keeping this or selling it. I really need the intermediate pully slow-speed attachment for it as most of my work is in metal. I believe that Walker Turner sold one for their drill presses and if I can find one I'll try it on mine. It should fit.

THIS DRILL PRESS HAS BEEN SOLD.

Thanks for looking, Guy
