Comments:
I obtained this lathe for $50 from a gentleman who said his father had purchased it new. If I’m reading it right the motor has a date on it of 4 – 1954. The sellers’ son later used it for fly rods (I’m assuming that’s where the many runs of glue & lacquer on the lathe came from) until he grew up and moved on then his father had no use for it. I stripped it, painted it, installed new bearings and it works quite well. I built a replacement stand and made it relatively portable so I can move it about as needed in my overcrowded garage. The data plate / model number is missing from the lathe bed but after disassembly I was able to match the parts with the assistance of OWWM members to model 103.23071 using the manual provided in the OWWM Reprints section. I’ll hopefully be using the lathe to replace broken or missing handles on some old tools I have.
