Machine Description: MBF
Owner: Charles E. Bishop
Manufacture Date: 1957
Notes: This DeWalt MBF was purchased new, by my Dad (then Major, USAF) Jake S. Bishop Jr, on October 31st, 1957 from Lewers & Cooke, Ltd. 404 Piikoi St. Honolulu, Territory of Hawai'i. Phone 5-1961. Dad attended the "Beginner Classes" and I went with him, I was eleven. At the time Dad purchased this saw, Lewers & Cooke, Ltd. had to order these DeWalts from the "Mainland".. given that info, I would think the "Manufactured Date" would not pre-date the sale date by more than a few months, I do recall it only being a week or so after purchase until it arrived in Honolulu and we picked it up (it fit nicely into the trunk of our '51 Cadillac ;-} ) After Dad died in 1970, my (then 54 y/o) Mom used the DeWalt to build custom oak cabinets for her kitchen, and for a LOT of other remodeling on her house. In 1984 I built my first "serious project" with the MBF, a "Changing Table" for my son (who was still four months from being born. I am currently using the MBF (now with a DeWalt 7770 motor) to build a large kitchen counter/cabinet for my wife. Completing that, I will then use the Moulder/Shaper Head to make the ceiling moulding and baseboards for six rooms in our house. In short, the (now) fifty-eight year old saw is still humming along.. The saw still retains it's original paint.. the decal on the blade guard is original and still fully intact! The only "worn" area is the word "DeWalt" at the "nose" of the saws "arm", the red paint has worn off! I do not know how, or where to submit a photo. Charles E. Bishop. Texas.
