The Cleveland Crane & Engineering Company was an engineering company that produced many products but were primarily known for overhead cranes. Of interest to this web site, they were also the manufacturer of the Steelweld brand of Power Shears and Press Brakes. While the date that the company began is not known here, according to sales literature they began making "Steelweld" Press Brakes in 1937. During the run-up to World War I, the firm also made a chucking lathe for turning, drilling, boring, and end forming artillery shells.

By 1958, the company was listed as being a subsidiary of the McNeil Machine and Engineering Co.
