In the 1980s and '90s, Strong Tool Design of Livonia, MI, made the "Joint-Matic" hand-router-based horizontal mortiser, patented by Donald Strong. They ultimately sold the rights to that product to Shopsmith, who continued to make a version of it for a while; that version was reportedly cheapened beyond usefulness and was soon discontinued. They also made a scrollsaw that was mentioned in a 1989 issue of Fine Wood Working.
