Key to Links for Patent Information

USPTO = U.S. Patent Office . Images of the actual patent can be viewed on the U.S. Patent Office web site but a special TIFF viewer must be installed with your browser in order properly work. More information on how to configure your computer to view these patents can be found at TIFF image Viewers for Patent Images.
DATAMP = Directory of American Tool And Machinery Patents . A sister site to VintageMachinery.org with information on patents related to machinery and tools. A much easier user interface than the USPTO's for finding information on machinery patents.

1,641,646 Sep. 06, 1927 Woodworking apparatus Max Skolnik Minneapolis, MN This router-based combination power tool was possibly manufactured by Mereen-Johnson Machine Co., best known for their sawmill machinery. Our only evidence is a brass nameplate that was found in the rubble of a demolished house in Minneapolis. The plate says, "Master Universal Electric Woodworker patented U.S.A., Sept. 6, 1927... Mereen-Johnson Machine Co. Minneapolis, Minnesota." There is also spaces for motor information (volts, H. P., etc.) but no markings are legible. No other patents issued on this date seem to be as good a fit, and in addition both Mereen-Johnson and the inventor, Max Skolnik, are from Minneapolis.
