Around the middle of the 20th century this firm made "Harvey Butterfly" die filers and grinding machines. They were originally headquartered in New York City with factory in Long Island City, NY. Subsequently they were a subsidiary of Germanow-Simon Machine Co., Inc., of Rochester, NY.

  • A discussion on Practical Machinist included a link to instructions and parts list for a die filer from this maker. This document provided the company name and its address: "161 Grand Street, New York 13, N. Y." The factory was located at 45-34 Court Square, Long Island City, N. Y. The instructions also note, "Named 'Butterfly' because it as as noiseless in its running as a butterfly is in its flying." The company was a subsidiary of "Germanow-Simon Machine Co., Inc. / Main offices / 408 St. Paul St. / Rochester, N.Y. 14605".
